OUR STORY

In June 2024 we’re riding nearly 300km across the west of Ireland in aid of four phenomenal charities. Please donate to enable these organisations to continue their great work.

The Blazing Saddles were formed in 2020 at the height of the first lockdown, when a group of close friends decided that they needed to get off their sofas and get fit. These novice cyclists soon got the bug, and started building up their distances in the beautiful Cheshire countryside.

The Fourth Ride - June 2024

BELFAST TO DUBLIN

Our most recent ride was from Belfast to Dublin. 250km over two day with 20 riders raising funds for five great causes. Many of the group popped their 100 mile cherries on the first day. The ride took place on Friday 1st July & Saturday 2nd July 2022.

The Route

Day 1: Belfast to Dundalk (via Carlingford Ferry), total distance 161km (100 miles!)

Day 2: Dundalk to Dublin, total distance 92km

The charities supported were Cancer Research UK, Leukaemia Care, Prostate Cancer UK, Manchester Foundation Trust Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund.

With more than £25,000 raised from more 400 donations, the 2022 ride was a roaring success. Check out all the photos from the ride here

NEWCASTLE TO EDINBURH
The second saddles ride was a hilly jaunt in the North East, two days of riding the 240km from Newcastle To Edinburgh.

Day 1: Newcastle to Jedburgh - 100km with 1200m of elevation

Day 2: Jedburgh to Edinburgh - 140km 1400m of elevation

2020

WILMSLOW TO ANGLESEY

What started as a group of middle-aged men trying to do some positive for charity, broke all expectations we had ever thought possible! Our very first ride raised over £40,000 - a fantastic achievement for even better causes, we want to thank everyone who made it possible.

The route was 250km from the home of the Blazing Saddles, Wilmslow, to Anglesey over the 11th-13th September weekend.

Blazing Saddles is now much more than 20+ riders - it's everyone who has donated, everyone who receives aid from the money, every nurse, designer and hard worker who put a shift in to make this a wonderful charity event exceed and prosper.

Thank you everyone, from the bottom of our hearts, and remember, it’s about the charities so click the link below to donate!
